Handmade Beaded Bag from Recycled Jeans and Belt

Guess what I found in my closet looking new and beckoning me to take it out of its box? My mini sewing machine!

After 7 years, I finally opened its box, and what the heck, I decided to use it!

I can't believe that I still have this with me after all these years. Even the receipt is still intact.

So anyway, it was a laid back Sunday afternoon. I realized my dress was torn and I wanted to sew it by hand. For some reason, I suddenly remembered I have a sewing machine stacked somewhere in my closet which I never got to use. Perhaps I should.

So that's what I did. My hands were shaking at first and I couldn't seem to sew straight. But after a few tries, I was fine. I felt like I was back in Grade 4, sewing away. LOL! It was one of my most fave activities when I was a kid. In fact, I even got to be president of the sewing club during my elementary years.

Anyway, before I knew it, I was looking for all those fabrics and jeans cut-outs I was collecting. You see, I don't really throw away my old and unused stuff that easily. I love to recycle but I just never got around to actually doing it. So this was my chance.

I chose a piece of fabric I cut out from my newly bought jeans a few weeks ago and sew the top and bottom parts using the sewing machine.

I took out an old belt and turned it into handles for my bag.

My bag looked very plain so I thought of pimping it out a bit.

I made a beaded bracelet and necklace which I later used to pimp my bag.

Voila --- I have a funky shoulder bag. It was tiring but it was fun! I can't believe I had a productive Sunday! ^_^

  2. Thanks! :-)

I know what you mean. Maybe you can start by doing it once a week. That's how I started before. Right now, I'm wishing to quit my online job so I can do my crafts 24/7. It's tiring but very fulfilling. :-)
