Herbal Soap Scrub with Green Apple, Olive Oil, Oatmeal and Thyme

Last week, I made a basic Green Apple Soap with Oatmeal and Thyme with glycerin as its soap base. It was taking too long to harden so I had to rebatch it so I can also add olive oil for moisturizing effect. I used the same hand-milled process and after 24 hours, it hardened and looked like this:

That was on January 25. On January 31, I took it out of its mold and my Herbal Soap Scrub with Green Apple, Olive Oil, Oatmeal and Thyme looked pretty like this:

I'm so in love with my herbal soaps right now, which I concocted in my own kitchen. I also made herbal soaps with orange and cherry which I will share with you the next few days.

So basically, I chose glycerin as my soap base because glycerin is pure and gentle. It has no animal ingredients and no irritating oils. Glycerin is very natural as it naturally reduces bacteria like other anti-bacterial soap but without leaving any film of soap. Glycerin is also one of nature's most effective moisturizers. They are hypoallergenic as well as totally biodegradable.

Then I added olive oil to my the soap base for additional moisturizing effect.
Olive oil is also very similar to the natural oils of our skin. It is soothing and very safe even for those with sensitive skin.

The oatmeal on my soap is to give it a natural exfoliating quality. We all probably know by now that oatmeal is a natural cleanser that both nourishes and exfoliates the skin. I want my soap to scrub off dirt and dead skin cells and that's the job of the oatmeal. After which, the olive oil and glycerin in the ingredients will then moisturize the skin.

Green apple scent is the fragrance oil I used for this soap. Green apple smells fresh, juicy, crisp and makes one feels so close to nature. Green apple is also nice on the skin which gives it a luscious lather.

All the ingredients I used are biodegradable and very gentle on the skin. Isn't that great? I'm not only taking care of my skin, but I'm taking care of the environment too! Hopefully, I can spend more time coming up with other kinds of soaps for all types of skin. Hence, I gotta work to earn money to buy my ingredients. Ciao for now! ^_^

  1. What I love about herbal soaps is that they do not irritate my skin unlike the commercial soaps that we use. Oatmeal soap is my favorite because of it's exfoliating properties.

  2. Thanks for your comment. You are right. Commercial soaps contain very harmful chemicals. I saw it myself when I attended a class and learned how to make commercial soap products. We were asked to be very careful, we wore gloves and masks. The curing process took a month or so because otherwise, the soap might irritate our skin. Since then, I decided to make and use herbal soaps instead made of glycerin which is very gentle on the skin. :)
