Making Beaded Earrings, Necklaces & Bracelets

Making beaded earrings, necklaces and bracelets requires inspiration, at least for me. This is why I can never consider making these things as work because when I'm not in the mood for it, then I won't be able to make any. I think I could but I won't be happy about it and the results won't be as nice.

So today, when I felt like doing a few more bracelets, earrings and necklaces to add to my growing collection, I took the chance. I just had my first meal of the day and I was feeling energetic. I immediately took out all my beading materials, looked at the previous designs I saved in my PC and allowed myself to be engulfed by awe and inspiration.

When making beaded jewelry, I don't try to copy other creations. I just look at as many beautiful designs as I can, prepare all my materials on my work station and I just let whatever inspiration flow through my hands as I pick my string, my colorful beads, my pliers, clamps, crimps, and other beading supplies.

Remember yesterday when I made a necklace out of recycled earrings? That necklace didn't have any pair of earrings to go with it so I made one:

Then I went ahead and made another necklace, this time a very simple one, using wooden beads and leather string. I also paired it with earrings.

I then found another piece of earring with a missing pair. There's design I wanted to try but it will take a lot of time. So I decided to just make a simple one by turning the round earring into a pendant for a wooden choker necklace. I made a pair of earrings that will go with it too.

This green and red bracelet below is made of semi-precious stones like Unakite. It is also called Epidote, which is derived from the Greek epidosis, which means "growing together". Unakite is a combination of green Epidote and red Jasper solidly bound together. This is actually where people got the saying "What comes together belongs together." Romantic, isn't it?

There are other semi-precious stones in this bracelet like amber, coral, and apatite.

Semi-precious stones or gemstones are very useful when making jewelry because they give out certain energy that can offer healing. Take for instance Jasper. It is good for healing the liver, bladder, gallbladder, for tissue regeneration, for the improvement of the sense of smell, for easing stress, balances energies and emotions, takes away fears, helps one become more independent, gives protection and stability. As for Unakite, it can be used to put away negative energy, lift your spirits when you are depressed or sad, helps you to see the beauty in life, can help you in giving confidence when making spells and can help find lost things. I think I'm gonna wear my Unakite bracelet as often as possible to drive away negative forces. Teehee.

This piece of bracelet above is actually a gift from one of my best friends, Vina, in 2007. One of the stones went missing and one of the links was broken. When I saw it among my beading supplies, I just had to get it from the pile and repair it somehow so I can use it again.

That's it for now. Til my next mood for making beaded jewelry! ^_^
